CEBU CITY—Former public works secretary Mark Villar said the government’s Build, Build, Build (BBB) program has been a success, contrary to what critics believe.
Villar, who was in Cebu City Wednesday, said he did not see the 118 projects list brought up during a Presidential debate. But he said it could be the initial list made when they started conceptualizing the massive infrastructure program.
During the first Pilipinas Debate sponsored by the Commission on Elections, presidential candidate Panfilo Lacson said only 12 of 118 projects were finished under the BBB program.
Villar said there were projects on the list that was good in concept but could not be done because of the cost and unavailability of technology.
The senatorial candidate said the public feels the infrastructure projects finished under the Duterte administration. In Cebu, for example, the government has an ongoing expressway and flood control projects.
The fourth Mactan-Cebu bridge feasibility study has begun.
Villar made the rounds in the vote-rich Cebu province on March 23. He visited Cebu Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia at the Capitol and will be talking to other local officials.
Villar values the Cebuano vote in his campaign, being a big province. He is here to assure Cebuanos that the big projects for the province will continue if he wins as a senator.
