Palo diocese has new archbishop
TACLOBAN CITY— The new Archbishop of the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Palo, John Du, will be installed on May 9 at the Metropolitan Cathedral in Palo, Leyte.
Papal Nuncio to the Philippines Archbishop Giuseppe Pinto will lead the installation rites for the 57-year-old Du, according to Fr. Amadeo Alvero, media coordinator of the Palo archdiocese.
Pope Benedict XVI appointed Du as the new archbishop of the Archdiocese of Palo on Feb. 25.
Du replaced Archbishop Jose Palma, who was appointed archbishop of Cebu.
Alvero said Du’s appointment as Palo archbishop “was an answered prayer for all of us.”
As archbishop of Palo, Du will head some 1.2 million Catholics. The archdiocese is composed of 63 parishes. Joey Gabieta, Inquirer Visayas
