LAOAG CITY, Ilocos Norte—More than seven million COVID-19 vaccine doses had been administered in the Ilocos region, data from the Department of Health (DOH) showed on Monday, March 21.

At least 79.3 percent of the more than five million target population in the region, or 3,397,258 individuals, had been vaccinated fully against the disease.

Ilocos Norte province had the highest vaccination coverage, with 90.47 percent of its target of 620,052 individuals already fully vaccinated.

Ilocos Sur was second, with 87.74 percent of its 724,395 target individuals fully inoculated, the DOH said.

The regional DOH had urged residents to get their booster shots to be protected fully against the disease.

At least 620,185 individuals in the region had gotten their booster shots, or 22.07 percent of the target, the DOH said.

“For those who have yet to receive their booster shot, visit the nearest vaccination site in your area and avail the vaccine to be fully protected. Hindi magiging kumpleto ang inyong protection laban sa Covid-19 kung kayo ay hindi nakatanggap ng booster shot o ikatlong bakuna para dito,” said DOH Regional Director Paula Paz Sydiongco.
