MANILA, Philippines—The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Tuesday said it has not received information on the alleged plot to oust President Benigno Aquino III.
Chief Superintendent Agrimero Cruz Jr., spokesman of the PNP, told reporters that they have yet to receive information on retired generals’ purported efforts to overthrow Aquino as bared Monday by Senator Antonio Trillanes IV.
“The PNP leadership under its chief Director General Nicanor Bartolome is very confident that the [police force] is made up of professional policemen who will not succumb to such innuendos,” he said in an interview.
He however added that the PNP was monitoring for developments on the issue and “will put this on our list for intelligence units.”
