MANILA, Philippines — The Bureau of Immigration (BI) is expecting inbound travelers to increase to 12,000 per day as the summer season officially begins.
BI spokesperson Dana Krizia Sandoval said that currently, arrivals per day average to 10,000.
“Daily po nasa (around) 10,000 na po ang dumadating sa bansa (arrive in the country) which is really what we’re expecting,” she said in a Laging Handa pubic briefing.
“We’re expecting po na baka pumalo pa ito hanggang sa 12,000 on the average per day given itong summer season… kung saan nakikita po natin na marami pong mga foreign nationals na maaaring pumunta dito to spend the summer season here in the Philippines,” she continued.
(We’re expecting that it may hit 12,000 on the average per day given that it is already the summer season wherein we see many foreign nationals may spend the summer season here in the Philippines.)
On February 10, the Philippines opened its borders to fully vaccinated foreign travelers from 157 visa-free countries.
