BACOLOD CITY — The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) apprehended an alleged fake dentist in an entrapment operation in Barangay 4, Bacolod City, on Wednesday, March 16.

Karen Sujedado Oñas, 41, of Barangay Poblacion, Bago City, reportedly practiced dentistry without a license, said NBI Bacolod chief Renoir Baldovino.

Oñas was apprehended after a person posing as a patient needing dental braces went to a house in Barangay 4 to meet her.

The fake dentist was charging P8,000 for the braces and was apprehended with her dental paraphernalia.

The NBI conducted an investigation on Oñas after a patient filed a complaint. The patient paid P5,000 for braces that fell out shortly after they were installed, Baldovino said.

The NBI filed a complaint against Oñas for violation of Republic Act 9484, or an act to regulate the practice of dentistry, dental hygiene, and dental technology in the Philippines.

Bail was set at P30,000.
