ILOILO CITY — The third phase of the free ride project of the Department of Transportation (DOTr) and Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) in Western Visayas is set to resume amid the continuous increase in the price of fuel.

LTFRB-6 Director Richard Osmeña said that the project would help the government, the commuters, and even the drivers amid the recent oil price hike.

Out of the total P6.8 billion project funds, the LTFRB allocated P200 million to Western Visayas for the resumption of the free ride project.

Osmeña assured the drivers that their salary would be released on time.

As of Thursday, there were already at least 28 modernized jeepney units in Iloilo that confirmed to participate in the free ride project.
