ILOILO CITY—The Iloilo City government will adopt a four-day work week amid a steep increase in oil prices.
Iloilo City Mayor Jerry Treñas announced on Thursday morning that City Hall employees will be on the four-day schedule starting two weeks from now.
He cited this work schedule as suggested by National Economic Development Authority Director-General Karl Kendrick Chua.
“This will give our employees time to adjust their schedules both in work and in their homes,” Treñas said in a statement.
He said the city government will utilize its modern jeepneys to ferry employees between district public plazas and City Hall daily.
Other energy conservation measures will also be considered, according to the mayor.
