3 ‘communist rebels’ surrender in Central Luzon

IBA, Zambales—An active member of a communist group in Zambales has surrendered to the authorities, police said Thursday, March 17.

In a statement, the Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) identified the alleged rebel as “Harim,” 49, of Barangay Aglao, San Marcelino town, in this province.

Police said Harim turned over a magnum .22-caliber and an improvised 12-gauge shotgun.

According to the PRO3, two other former communist rebels surrendered in Aurora and Tarlac provinces.

They were identified as alias “SK” from Barangay Care in Tarlac City and alias “Ka Crispin” from Aurora.

SK surrendered an MK2 hand grenade, while Ka Crispin, a former member of Militiang Bayan, turned over a .38-caliber revolver, ammunition, and a hand grenade.
