Pagasa: Weather generally 'good' on Thursday despite isolated rain showers

MANILA, Philippines — The easterlies continued to influence the country’s weather system, thus, hot and humid conditions may persist through Thursday even as isolated rain showers are anticipated to occur in various parts of the country.

This was the latest forecast of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa), which noted that isolated rain showers are likely in Luzon, Eastern Visayas, and Davao region.

Earlier on Wednesday, Pagasa officially declared the termination of the northeast monsoon season, signaling the beginning of the hot and dry season – which countries experiencing four seasons call “summer” – in the country.

“Sa malaking bahagi ng Luzon inaasahang natin ang mga pulo-pulong pagulan at pagkidlat at pagkulog pero sa kabuuan po makikita natin na maaliwalas pa rin ‘yung panahon,” Pagasa weather specialist Obet Badrina said.

(In large parts of Luzon, we expect isolated rain, lightning, and thunder but, in general, we’ll still see good weather conditions.)

In Eastern Visayas and Davao region, Badrina said partly cloudy skies and isolated rain are possible on Thursday.

As for the rest of Visayas and Mindanao, Pagasa said there would be relatively clearer skies although still with a chance of rain due to the easterlies.

Badrina, however, advised the public to still be on alert and take precautions even if these isolated rain showers would only happen for 30 minutes to an hour.
