Village flyover in Bacolod, bridge to be closed starting today

BACOLOD CITY—The south-bound lane of the flyover in Barangay Bata and the new Sum-ag bridge in this city will be temporarily closed starting Wednesday, March 16, to allow for asphalt overlay work worth P13 million.

Jamie Javellana, Department of Public Works and Highways-Bacolod district engineer, said the flyover is made of steel and needs to be covered with new special asphalt, so it would not be slippery for vehicles. He expects the P6.6-million asphalt work to last until May or June.

To be closed starting today, Wednesday, will be the south-bound lane of the flyover from Talisay City to this city.

The north-bound Bacolod to Talisay lane of the flyover will be closed after work on the south-bound lane is completed.

Javellana said the Sum-ag bridge would also be closed for repairs and asphalt overlay worth P6.4 million and expected to be reopened by March 23.

They would also add street lights to the bridge, he said.
