CABANATUAN CITY, Nueva Ecija, Philippines — Despite heavy rain, supporters of presidential candidate Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. lined up the streets as they greeted the former senator with waves and cheers during his caravan here on Tuesday.

Marcos went on a motorcade from this city to Talavera town where he held a campaign rally with his running mate Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte.

The crowd chanted “hindi kami bayad, hindi kami bayad (we are not paid)” as Marcos went onstage to address the crowd in Andal Alino village in Talavera town.

Marcos responded: “UniTeam supporters believe in unity, they are not paid.”

The son and namesake of the late Philippine dictator devoted his speech calling for unity.

Like in his previous speeches, Marcos said he would revive the economy by helping the micro, small and medium-sized enterprises, the agriculture sector, and the tourism industry.

Before proceeding to this city for his motorcade, Marcos and Duterte met with Gov. Aurelio Umali and some local officials in Santa Rosa town.

Umali joined Marcos and Duterte at their campaign rally in his residence in Soledad village in Santa Rosa town, but the governor did not endorse the tandem.
