MANILA, Philippines — Partido Laban ng Masa presidential candidate Leody de Guzman remained unperturbed by the recent Pulse Asia survey showing him in 7th place out of the 10 candidates, saying he was confident voters would ultimately pick him on Election Day.

“My confidence in the Filipino people remains. They will side with the candidate who can present solutions to the problems they are experiencing, especially now with the uncontrollable increase of fuel prices, followed by basic commodities …. Only a laborer-candidate can present concrete solutions to these,” he said in a statement on Tuesday.

According to De Guzman, what was needed was “for my platforms and principles to be heard by and to reach the most number of voters.”

He and his running mate, former Rep. Walden Bello, were in Davao City as part of their weeklong Mindanao campaign sorties.

During their meeting with women groups, De Guzman promoted his stand for their right to equal wages and opportunities, and free choice. He also met with labor and farmers groups and repeated his promises to work for a single, national minimum wage, the abolition of manpower agencies to stop contractualization, and the repeal of the Rice Tarrification Law.
