SAN ANTONIO, Zambales––The province has achieved herd immunity against COVID-19 after vaccinating 70 percent of its target eligible population, an official said on Monday, March 14.
Dr. Noel Bueno, provincial health officer, said the feat was due to the high turnout of residents at various vaccination sites.
At least 454,730 residents comprised 70 percent of the 649,615-population of the province.
Bueno also said around 71 percent of the target had been vaccinated partially against the viral disease.
Zambales remained under alert level 2, along with Nueva Ecija, while the rest of Central Luzon has been placed under alert level 1.
Independent analytics group OCTA Research last week tagged the province as “very low risk” for COVID-19 due to the reduction in the number of COVID-19 cases.
Bueno said four virus-infected patients remained at the President Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Hospital, the main COVID-19 facility in the province. INQ
