Ex-Iloilo lawmaker dismayed over congressman’s support for Robredo

Vice President Leni Robredo is open to the possibility of political rivals endorsing her presidential bid, as long as it is not based on a "transactional" relationship where politicians may expect something in return.

ILOILO CITY—Former Rep. Ferjenel Biron of Iloilo’s fourth district and Nacionalista Party leader expressed dismay over second district Rep. Mike Gorriceta’s “unconsented” pronouncement supporting Vice President and presidential candidate Leni Robredo.

Biron said in an interview that Gorriceta’s announcement came as a surprise to the party.

“While we are free to choose our candidate, basic courtesy to our party should have been observed,” the former congressman said.

He confirmed with party president Cynthia Villar that Gorriceta failed to inform their political faction before endorsing Robredo.

Biron, who is seeking a seat in congress, was the Provincial Chairman of the Marcos-Duterte campaign team.
