MANILA, Philippines — The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has warned the public not to use the Genefinder COVID-19 AG self-test being sold in some stores because it has not undergone the requisite government certification.

“Since this uncertified COVID-19 test kit has not gone through the evaluation process of the FDA, the agency cannot assure its quality and safety,” the FDA said in an advisory over the weekend.

In January, the FDA approved two brands of self-administered COVID-19 antigen test kits by Abbott Panbio and Labnovation Technologies. The agency said 31 other brands are still being evaluated.
