TACLOBAN CITY—The limited in-person classes in Eastern Visayas started on Monday, March 7.

About 89,594 students, 1,272 of whom were from private schools, participated in the classes in the region.

Jasmin Calzita, information officer of the Department of Education (DepED) in Eastern Visayas, said they were grateful for the cooperation extended by their stakeholders.

“During our focused group discussion with them, they expressed their genuine commitment to supporting the progressive expansion of the limited face-to-face classes and as we progress with the implementation, we expect more schools to open in the succeeding weeks for as long as the health situation will be favorable,” she added.

Calzita said that while the priority for the in-person classes were fully vaccinated students, even those who have not yet received the vaccine against COVID-19 could attend their classes.

The DepEd information official also said that wearing school uniforms during the in-person classes was not mandatory.
