3 Davao Region provinces now at very low risk for COVID-19 — OCTA

davao del sur low covid cases

MANILA, Philippines — Three provinces in the Davao Region are now at very low risk for COVID-19, the independent analytics group OCTA Research said Thursday.

OCTA Research fellow Dr. Guido David identified the provinces as: Davao del Sur, Davao Occidental, and Davao Oriental.

“Davao del Sur (including Davao City), Davao Occidental and Davao Oriental at VERY LOW RISK as of March 9, 2022,” David posted on Twitter.

The three provinces have negative COVID-19 growth rates ranging from -10 percent to -63 percent.

Their average daily attack rates (Adar) range from 0.44 to 0.72. Adar is the number of new cases per 100,000 individuals.

Meanwhile, their reproduction numbers are all below one — the ideal figure, according to health experts — which indicates lesser COVID-19 transmission.

The provinces’ healthcare utilization rates are likewise at very low risk at 15 percent to 25 percent.

The other two provinces in Davao Region–Davao de Oro and Davao del Norte– are both at low risk for COVID-19.
