MANILA, Philippines — Authorities recovered the body of a 14-year-old boy, who was earlier reported missing, along a riverbank in Barangay Sta. Ana, Taytay, Rizal, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) said Wednesday.
The PCG said its Special Operations Group – Malacañang on Tuesday received a report about a drowning incident. It then launched a search and rescue operation.
On Wednesday, officers of the PCG, Philippine National Police (PNP), and the Taytay Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office recovered the missing boy’s body along the riverbank in Barangay Sta. Ana.
The victim’s mother confirmed that it was the body of her 14-year-old son.
The PCG said the boy’s remains were turned over to the police for further investigation and was brought to a nearby funeral service provider.
