MANILA, Philippines—Interior and Local Government Secretary Jesse Robredo on Monday said that they have raised the reward for whoever could provide information which would lead to the arrest the suspects who stabbed dead a 19-year-old University of the Philippines Los Baños student last Sunday to P200,000.

In a text message to INQUIRER.net, Robredo said the cash reward for information on Ray Bernard Peñaranda’s killers was raised to P200,000 from P100,000. He said that “P100,000 [came] from [Laguna] Governor E.R. [Ejercito] and P100,000 [came] from DILG.”

Task Force Peñaranda has also released an artist’s sketch of one of the two still unidentified suspects who was implicated in the murder of the third year BS Agriculture student. The suspect was described to be around 5’5” tall, of medium build and fair complexion.

Peñaranda and two other students were walking to their apartment along F.O. Santos Street in Umali Subdivision when they were accosted by motorcycle-riding suspects. He was stabbed dead after allegedly refusing to hand over his belongings to the two robbers, police said.
