BACOLOD CITY––The Negros Occidental provincial government barred the entry of P5.4 million in poultry and poultry products from March 1 to 4, said Provincial Veterinarian Renate Decena.
The 27,377 kilograms of poultry and poultry products were seized on arrival at the Bacolod Silay Airport, the seaports in Bacolod and Escalante cities, and at checkpoints in Kabankalan City.
The intercepted products were sent back to their points of origin, Decena said.
Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson earlier ordered a 16-day ban on the entry of live birds and poultry products from all regions in the Philippines until March 15 as a precaution against bird flu cases in some areas in Luzon.
