OLONGAPO CITY — The number of active COVID-19 cases in this city further dropped to seven as its risk level was lowered to very low, local health data showed Monday, March 7.

The city’s COVID-19 task force said no new infections were added to its tally on that day while two more patients recovered from the viral disease.

The data also showed that a 76-year-old man in the city died of COVID-19 complications, raising to 348 the local death toll related to the disease.

The man suffered from septic shock secondary to community-acquired pneumonia and acute respiratory failure secondary to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.

The city has recorded 6,974 COVID-19 cases since the pandemic struck in 2020. But at least 6,619 of them had recovered.

Data released Monday by independent analytics group OCTA Research showed that Olongapo was classified as “very low risk” for COVID-19 due to low virus growth.
