MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) reported 870 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday, the second straight day that additional coronavirus infections were just over 800.
The number of active COVID-19 cases dropped to 48,793, from the previous 49,374 on Saturday.
The DOH also reported 1,433 recoveries and 144 deaths. Overall, there have been 3,561,726 total recoveries and 57,023 deaths out of 3,667,542 confirmed cases of the disease in the country.
Meanwhile, the positivity rate was at 3.9 percent, which is below the 5 percent threshold recommended by the World Health Organization.
There were 24,543 individuals who got themselves tested for COVID-19 on Friday.
Of the active cases, 91.3 percent are mild and asymptomatic. A total of 401 are asymptomatic, 44,131 are mild, 2,693 are moderate, 1,279 are severe, and 289 are critical.
Twenty-five percent of intensive care unit (ICU) beds, 22 percent of isolation beds, and 14 percent of ward beds nationwide for COVID-19 patients are currently occupied.
In Metro Manila, 25 percent of ICU beds, 21 percent of isolation beds, and 24 percent of ward beds are in use.
“Data from March 3 is used for healthcare utilization figures due to a shift in version in DOH Data Collect,” the DOH said.
All testing laboratories were operational on Friday, but five were not able to submit their data.
