Fire razes house of village councilor in Bataan

MARIVELES, Bataan—The house of a barangay councilor in this town was razed by a fire following a loud explosion Friday morning, authorities said.

Emelita Funillas, 61, of Barangay Barangay Lucanin, told firefighters that all her personal belongings, including P1.4 million in cash and jewelry, were destroyed.

Firefighting units from the Freeport Area of Bataan and Unioil Company, and residents helped contain the blaze.

The fire was put out after an hour while an investigation was underway to determine the cause.
