LUCENA CITY––A butcher killed his fellow butcher and injured another in a shooting incident Thursday, March 3, in Candelaria town, Quezon province, police said.

Candelaria police reported that Dennis Cruz, 37, armed with a .45-caliber pistol, repeatedly shot at 4:40 p.m. Jerico Capuloy, 22, and Roel Flores, 28, as the two were sitting on a parked motorcycle in Barangay Pahinga Norte.

The suspect immediately escaped on foot after the shooting.

Both victims suffered several gunshot wounds and were rushed to Peter Paul Medical Center, but Capuloy died on the way.

Flores was hit in both arms and confined in the hospital for treatment.

The police said the shooting incident was motivated by an “old personal grudge.” The report did not identify who had a grudge with the suspect.

Investigators recovered six empty bullet shells and a fired slug at the crime scene. Cruz is now the subject of a police manhunt. INQ
