MANILA, Philippines — A low pressure area (LPA) may develop east of the Philippines this weekend, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Friday.
“Base sa tropical cyclone threat potential forecast ng Pagasa, gayundin sa pinapakita ng ibang models, possible po na may mabuong isang LPA this weekend somewhere dito sa may Philippine boundary,” Pagasa weather specialist Benison Estareja said.
Estareja said the LPA has a low chance to become a tropical cyclone but it will cross the Philippine Sea and near the Visayas and Mindanao.
“Sa ating mga kababayan po doon, mag-ingat sa mga pag-ulan, light to moderate with at times heavy rains, simula this weekend until early next week. Mag-ingat po sa posibleng pagbaha at landslides at mag-antabay sa updates ng Pagasa,” he added.
(Residents in affected should watch out for light to moderate to at times heavy rains starting this weekend until early next week. Beware of possible flooding and landslides, and monitor updates from Pagasa.)
On Thursday, Pagasa said it is monitoring cloud clusters over the eastern part of the country.
Meanwhile, the easterlies, or warm winds blowing from the Pacific Ocean, are still affecting the weather in Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, according to the weather bureau.
Pagasa said the entire country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms either due to the effects of easterlies or localized thunderstorms.
