MANILA, Philippines — Six highly-urbanized cities (HUCs) in Mindanao are currently at low risk status for COVID-19, while Cagayan de Oro remains at moderate risk, independent analytics group OCTA Research said Thursday.
Based on the data shared by OCTA Research fellow Guido David on Twitter, the cities of Butuan, Cotabato, Davao, General Santos, Iligan, and Zamboanga are currently at low risk status for COVID-19.
OCTA Research uses the metrics of US nonprofit COVID Act Now in classifying risk levels, which are different from metrics of the Department of Health.
OCTA Research reported that the average daily attack rate (ADAR) is very low risk in Cotabato (0.32), low risk in Butuan (1.48), General Santos (1.35), Iligan (1.17), and Zamboanga (1.87), and moderate risk in Cagayan de Oro (2.67), and Davao (2.24).
ADAR is the average number of new COVID-19 cases per day per 100,000 population in an area.
The reproduction number, or the average number of new cases from one positive case, is currently less than one in all seven HUCs.
Only Cotabato City has a low risk healthcare utilization (HCUR) at 32 percent. HCUR in the remaining HUCs is at very low risk.
Positivity rate is still at high risk Cagayan de Oro at 12 percent, General Santos at 15 percent, and Iligan at 18 percent.
It is considered moderate risk in Butuan at seven percent and Zamboanga at eight percent, and low risk in Cotabato at four percent and in Davao at five percent.
