Man shot dead after attending court hearing in Nueva Ecija

SANTA ROSA, Nueva Ecija––A 35-year-old resident of San Leonardo town was shot dead by motorcycle-riding gunmen while on his way home from a court hearing Tuesday over a land dispute.
Maj. Fortune Dianne Bernardo, town police chief, said Roderico de Leon of Barangay Mambangna attended a court hearing about 9 a.m. in Palayan City Regional Trial Court Branch 40 “involving a land dispute.”
While on his way home, two unidentified assailants appeared from behind and fired at him.
De Leon died instantly while the assailants fled on board the motorcycle.
Investigators said they were eyeing land dispute as a possible motive for the killing.
