MANILA, Philippines — The Philippines has listed 1,067 new coronavirus infections and no new fatality due to COVID-19, the Department of Health (DOH) reported Tuesday.
The fresh cases raised the overall count to 3,663,059 since the pandemic hit the country in 2020. Meanwhile, the death toll remains at 56,451.
The DOH likewise reported that 1,652 patients have recently recovered from the illness, raising total recoveries to 3,555,016.
Active cases, on the other hand, stood at 51,592. Of this number, 489 are asymptomatic cases; 46,609 are mild cases; 2,779 are moderate cases; 1,417 are severe cases; and 298 are critical cases.
The health department further reported that the country’s COVID-19 positivity rate further dropped to 4.3 percent, which is now within the recommendation of the World Health Organization (WHO). The WHO said a five percent or below positivity rate means controlled transmission of the SARS-Cov-2, the latest coronavirus strain that causes COVID-19.
Moreover, the DOH noted that nine laboratories failed to submit data to the COVID-19 Document Repository System on February 27 and that five duplicates were removed from the total case count.
