Cop slain in NPA attack in Sorsogon police camp
LEGAZPI CITY—A police officer was killed Monday, Feb. 28, when suspected New People’s Army (NPA) rebels attacked the camp of the 504th Police Maneuver Company in Pilar town in Sorsogon, a police report said Tuesday.
Slain was Corporal Ryan Atos, a member of the police unit, said Major Maria Luisa Calubaquib, Bicol police spokesperson, in a report.
The report said an undetermined number of NPA rebels fired at the camp in Barangay Esperanza around 6:45 p.m. and triggered a 15-minute firefight.

No other casualties were reported from the government troops, Calubaquib said.
Brigadier-General Jonnel Estomo, Bicol police chief, condemned the attack in a statement Tuesday.
