LPA’s trough to bring scattered rain showers in Palawan, Caraga

MANILA, Philippines — The trough or extension of a low pressure area (LPA) will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms in Palawan and in Caraga region, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Tuesday.

The state weather service, in its website, warned of possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to at times heavy rains in the said areas due to the trough of the LPA outside the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR).

In a live forecast, Pagasa weather specialist Grace Castañeda also said that the LPA is not expected to enter PAR.

“Itong lPA na ito ay hindi natin inaasahang papasok o lalapit pa sa ating Philippine area of responsibility. Sa kasalukuyan ay wala rin po tayong namamataan na sama ng panahon na maaaring magkaroon ng direct effect dito sa ating bansa,” he said.

(This LPA is not expected to enter or go near PAR. At present, we are also not monitoring a weather disturbance that could have a direct effect on the country’s weather.)

Meanwhile, Metro Manila and the rest of the country will experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms due to the easterlies and localized thunderstorms, according to Pagasa.

Pagasa said possible flash floods or landslides may occur during severe thunderstorms.

The weather agency also said that the eastern section of Central and Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao will have moderate to strong wind and coastal water conditions.

The rest of the country will have light to moderate wind and coastal water conditions.
