MANILA, Philippines — Terminal 4 of the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) is expected to resume operations on March 28, Transport Secretary Arthur Tugade said Monday.

Tugade said the terminal has been closed for the past two years due to the pandemic. With its reopening, the airport can accommodate more passengers, especially with the government continuing to ease pandemic restrictions.

“NAIA Terminal 4, for the last two years during the pandemic has not been sued. On March 28, we will open the Terminal 4. This is an additional facility that will receive and send passengers to their flights,” he said, speaking partly in Filipino during the weekly taped “Talk to the People” briefing with President Rodrigo Duterte.

He added that airports in Surigao and Siargao, which both underwent rehabilitation, would resume full operations by the end of March.

According to Tugade, 7,500 passengers arrived in the Philippines two days ago, and this is expected to hit 10,000 in the following days.

He assured the DOTr is ready to address this increase in inbound travelers.
