Unopposed mayoral candidate in Negros Occidental town dies

BACOLOD CITY — A mayoral candidate who is running unopposed in Pulupandan, Negros Occidental, passed away on Sunday evening, February 27.
Antonio “Tony” Esteban Suatengco, 72, died at The Doctors’ Hospital in Bacolod City where he succumbed to renal failure and other complications, according to his brother Eduardo Remigio “Remi” Suatengco on Monday.
Suatengco was survived by his son Lorenzo Suatengco, Association of Barangay Captains representative in the Pulupandan Sangguniang Bayan, who will run for mayor in his place.
According to Pulupandan Mayor Miguel Peña, Lorenzo has had long years of experience as a public official.
Peña, who is in his third term as mayor, is running for vice mayor of Pulupandan in this year’s elections.
