3 Pampanga towns now free of COVID-19

MABALACAT CITY, Pampanga––Three towns in this province are now free of COVID-19 while four others have a single case each, data from the Provincial Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit (PESU) showed.

In its latest update on Sunday, the provincial government identified the towns with zero active cases as Sasmuan, Masantol, and Minalin. The four localities with a single case each were Arayat, Bacolor, Candaba, and Macabebe.

The same data showed that 14 of the province’s 19 towns registered zero new COVID-19 cases.

Pampanga and other provinces and highly urbanized cities in Central Luzon, except for Nueva Ecija and Zambales, have been downgraded to Alert Level 1 from March 1 to 15.

PESU’s data showed that Floridablanca town had the most active cases at 36, followed by Santo Tomas with 22, and Guagua with 17.

This city had six active cases as of Sunday, while the capital city of San Fernando’s active cases stood at 14 on the same day.

Pampanga’s active COVID-19 cases as of Feb. 26 stood at 157. The province has recorded 56,456 cases since the pandemic started in 2020. Of that number, 53,718 had recovered while 2,581 had died.

The data did not include highly urbanized Angeles City, which is politically independent of the province.

Since the pandemic began, Angeles City has recorded 14,542 COVID-19 cases, of which 13,995 had recovered while 537 had died. Its active cases stood at 10 as of Sunday.
