MANILA, Philippines — Former Philippine Amusement Gaming Corp. (Pagcor) chairman and chief executive officer Alicia Reyes has died at the age of 88.
Pagcor on Monday said Reyes passed away on Feb. 26.
Reyes led the agency from 1986 — when she was appointed by then President Cory Aquino — until 2001, where she also served under the administrations of former presidents Fidel Ramos and Joseph Estrada.
“Under Reyes’ leadership, PAGCOR began its rise as the third largest revenue-generating arm of the government. The agency became the source of much-needed funds for the reestablishment of the Philippine economy,” Pagcor said in a social media post.
Before her appointment at Pagcor, Reyes served as governor of the Development Bank of the Philippines.
“Mrs. Alice Reyes is remembered by colleagues and family for her competence, unquestionable integrity and religiosity. Please join us in praying for the repose of her soul,” Pagcor said.
