2 more Tarlac towns now COVID – free

A 1-day-old girl and two other persons had died of COVID-19 complications in Tarlac, the provincial government disclosed on Sunday, Feb. 6.

MABALACAT CITY, Pampanga – Two more towns in Tarlac are now free of COVID-19, the provincial government announced  on Saturday.

The local government unit said the lone COVID-19 case in Pura town and the three persons who were also infected with the viral disease in San Manuel town have recovered, bringing the total number of COVID-free towns in the province to four.

Mayantoc and Ramos towns have had zero active cases since Feb. 24.

Tarlac recorded four new cases, 23 recoveries and no deaths on Saturday. Active cases stand at 99.

The capital Tarlac City has the most active cases at 29, followed by Gerona town with 11 and Capas with eight.

The four new cases on Saturday include three residents of Tarlac City and one from Capas whose age range between 32 and 53.

Since the pandemic broke out in 2020, the province has recorded a total of 23,470 COVID-19 cases, of which 22,519 have recovered while 852 had died. Tarlac and the rest of Central Luzon are under Alert Level 2 until Feb. 28.

OCTA Research has classified Tarlac under moderate risk with positivity rate of 28 percent, the highest in Central Luzon.

The group said Aurora is at very low risk and the other provinces in the region at low risk.
