CEBU CITY—Six years ago, all she presented to Cebuanos were promises.
On Thursday, Vice President Leni Robredo came back to the country’s most vote-rich province to report everything she delivered and accomplished.
“In 2016, I came here and made promises without receipts. At that time, everything I said to the Cebuanos were just promises. Now, I have receipts and have been following through on my promises,” she said during her sortie at the Southwestern University-Phinma grounds.
“I haven’t neglected Cebu in my almost six years as Vice President,” she added.
Robredo, now a presidential candidate, is hopeful that Cebuanos would again support her bid for the country’s top position.
According to the Commission on Elections, Cebu, including the highly urbanized cities of Mandaue and Lapu-Lapu, is the most vote-rich province in the country with about 3.3 million voters.
Former Cebu City Mayor Tomas Osmeña, in a speech delivered in what could be the biggest gathering in the province for Robredo on Thursday, expressed hopes that Robredo will win the presidency.
“No more Marcos, no more Duterte. It’s over. They are done,” Osmeña said, drawing cheers from the crowd.
Robredo was accompanied by her running mate, Sen. Francis Pangilinan, their Senate slate, and popular artists who regularly joined her campaign sorties including Gab Valenciano, Juan Karlos Labajo and Pangilinan’s wife, Sharon Cuneta.
Robredo’s grand campaign rally on Thursday night virtually turned into a massive rave party as more than 10,000 supporters, most of them young people, packed the Southwestern University Phinma open grounds.
