MANILA, Philippines — Calling the computerization of the Bar examination a “long overdue innovation,” Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo said that the Supreme Court will pursue a computerized format of all succeeding Bar exams.
“To sustain the momentum of this digital shift, the Court will pursue the conduct of all succeeding Bar Examinations in a computerized format, a long-overdue innovation,” Gesmundo said during the hybrid formal launching of the Legal Education Advancement Program (LEAP) of the Legal Education Board (LEB) last Thursday.
The digital shift in the Bar examination is part of the judiciary’s move toward digitally making the adjudication and administrative systems.
Gesmundo taps the (LEB), Philippine Association of Law Schools, and the law deans to “adopt the necessary change in policies and methodologies as the Court fully transitions to this new platform for administering the Bar Examinations.
“We suggest a complementary remodeling of pedagogical tools, therefore, to maximize the students’ use of technology in their learning, to better equip our law students with the adaptive skills to prepare them not only for a digitized Bar Examinations but the digital world that they will practice law in,” Gesmundo said.
The digitalized Bar Examination started during the 2020/2021 Bar examination. The digital examination was among the innovations introduced by current Bar examination Committee Chairman Associate Justice Marvic Leonen.
The chair for the 2022 Bar examination is Associate Justice Alfredo Benjamin Caguioa.
