Farmer nabbed for murder cases in Bohol

TAGBILARAN CITY—An 48-year-old farmer tagged as one of the most wanted persons in Central Visayas was arrested during a police operation on Friday, Feb. 25.

Col. Osmundo Salibo, director of the Bohol Police Provincial Office, identified the suspect as Raindro Gabas Buno of Purok 7 Annex in Barangay San Vicente in Trinidad town, Bohol.

Buno was nabbed at 12:52 a.m. Friday at Purok 1 in Barangay San Roque in Talibon town.

He was apprehended under an arrest warrant for murder issued by Judge Azucena Macalolot-Credo of Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 101 in Talibon and six counts of attempted murder by Judge Sisinio Virtudazo, acting presiding judge of RTC Branch 51 of Carmen.

The judges recommended no bail for Buno’s murder case.

On the other hand, the six counts of attempted murder filed against him carried a bail of P120,000 each.

Buno was on the top five list of the most wanted persons in Central Visayas. He was allegedly an active member of the New People’s Army’s Squad 2, Sandatahang Yunit Pangpropaganda (SYP) Platoon of the Bohol Party Committee.

He was also a former chairman of the Talibon-Trinidad Integrated Farmers Association based in San Vicente in Trinidad town.

The suspect is now under the custody of Talibon police for documentation and disposition.

Salibo said the successful joint enhanced police operations manifested its strong commitment to continue to work hand-in-hand with other law enforcement units in the fight against wanted persons, criminality, and other forms of illegal activities in the region.
