OLONGAPO CITY––A 9-year-old boy from this city had died of COVID-19 complications, the local task force said.

In its daily tally released Friday, Feb. 25, the task force said the virus-infected boy suffered from “septic shock,” “generalized peritonitis,” and a “perforated ileum.”

The patient became the city’s 346th death related to the viral disease.

Data from the task force also showed that two new COVID-19 cases were added to its tally that day, raising to 6,969 its total number of confirmed infections since the pandemic struck in 2020. Of that number, at least 6,592 had recovered from the disease.

Despite this, the city has been classified as a “low-risk” area for COVID-19, according to independent analytics group OCTA Research. INQ
