The Philippine Air Force (PAF) activated on Tuesday a new command—Air Installation and Base Development Command (AIBDC)—to streamline the management and development of its airbases nationwide. PAF chief Lt. Gen. Connor Anthony Canlas led rites to unfurl the standard of the new unit which will be headed by 520th Airbase Wing commander Brig. Gen. Michael Lorenzo. With the 520th Airbase Wing falling under the newly created AIBDC, the unit has been reorganized as the 520th Airbase Wing Group, which will remain stationed at the Villamor Airbase. Aside from the 520th Airbase Wing Group, all other airbase wing units would fall under the AIBDC’s command including the 550th in Fernando Airbase, the 540th in Basa Airbase, the 530th in Zamboanga and the 570th in Palawan. —JEANNETTE I.
