Ex-Comelec exec takes oath as SC justice
Former Commission on Elections commissioner Antonio Kho Jr. was formally sworn in on Thursday as the 12th appointee of President Duterte to the Supreme Court. Kho, 56, took his oath as the 193rd Associate Justice of the high court before Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo. He replaced Associate Justice Rosmari Carandang who retired on Jan. 9. Kho is an alumnus of the San Beda University College of Law in 1991 and a fraternity brother of Mr. Duterte. He served as undersecretary of the Department of Justice from 2016 to 2018. Present during the oathtaking ceremony was Kho’s family along with Justices Jhosep Lopez, Amy Lazaro-Javier, Japar Dimaampao and Jose Midas Marquez. —DAPHNE GALVEZ
