OLONGAPO CITY — The city recorded 13 new cases of COVID-19, its highest single-day tally this month, local data showed on Thursday, Feb. 24.
Among the new patients were a 4-year-old girl, who showed symptoms, and a 7-year-old girl, who had no manifestations of COVID-19. Both are from Barangay New Cabalan.
The slight increase in new infections raised to 30 the number of the city’s active COVID-19 cases and came despite its low-risk virus status. Data showed that the city had logged 21 active cases the previous day.
After a surge in COVID-19 cases in January, the city started to see an improving number this month, which officials attributed to the city’s high vaccination rate.
The city has fully vaccinated 175,391 residents and is close to its target of 182,000 to achieve herd immunity.
