Comelec to hold vice presidential debate on Mar. 20

MANILA, Philippines — The Commission on Elections’ (Comelec) debate for vice presidential (VP) candidates is set on March 20, its spokesperson James Jimenez said Thursday.

However, one of the nine vice presidential bets will not be attending due to a medical concern.

“VP will be the following day [after the presidential debate],” Jimenez said in a press briefing.

The Comelec presidential debate is slated on March 19.

“All VP candidates confirmed except one who, unfortunately, I think will be undergoing surgery… Si Lito Atienza,” he shared.

The hopefuls who will participate in the debate are:

-Walden Bello

-Rizalito David

-Sara Duterte-Carpio

-Manny Lopez

-Willie Ong

-Kiko Pangilinan

-Carlos Serapio

-Vicente Sotto III

The national and local elections will be held on May 9.
