MABALACAT CITY, Pampanga––At least 35 children with special needs were vaccinated Wednesday, Feb. 23, against COVID-19 at the Angeles Elementary School in Angeles City.
The 5- to 17-year-old children received the first dose of Pfizer’s pediatric vaccine.
In a statement, Mayor Carmelo Lazatin Jr. said children with special conditions also need to be protected against viral disease.
Two days earlier, the city government vaccinated 452 other children aged 5 to 11 at the City College of Angeles in Pampang village.
The organizers distributed balloons, candies, cupcakes, coloring pads, and vitamins to the children.
Dr. Veronica Guevarra, city health officer, said they had been adhering strictly to the guidelines of the Department of Health in vaccinating children.
The city government has released vaccination schedules for villages, encouraging parents to pre-register their children against COVID-19.
