THREE persons were reported dead while at least 24 others were hospitalized  for drinking unclean ground water extracted from three barangays in Tuburan town,  midwest Cebu.

Renan Cimafranca, head of the Regional Epidemiology and Surveillance Unit of the Central Visayas Office of the Department of Health (DOH), said in an interview with radio dyAB that the three casualties were from barangays Poblacion, Cogon and Bagasawe.

The victims died at the Tuburan District Hospital.

Cimafranca said  about 300 other residents of the two barangays are suspected to also have typhoid and are now placed under observation.
