MABALACAT CITY, Pampanga — The number of active COVID-19 cases in Aurora province has doubled in four days, the latest situational update from the provincial emergency operations center showed.
On Feb. 18, during the 43rd founding anniversary of Aurora, the coastal province only had nine active cases. On Tuesday (Feb. 22), the number rose to 19.
On the same day, the province registered eight new COVID-19 cases, two recoveries and a single death. The fatality was a resident of Dipaculao town.
All active cases manifested only mild to moderate symptoms and are currently under quarantine.
Dipaculao has the most active cases at seven, followed by the capital town of Baler with four, and San Luis with three. Dilasag and Dingalan towns remained COVID-free.
Dinalungan was free of COVID-19 for several days until Tuesday, when it registered two new cases.
Since the pandemic started in 2020, Aurora has recorded a total of 4,202 COVID-19 cases, of which 3,938 had recovered and 245 had died.
Aurora had eased its border restrictions since Feb. 18, requiring visitors and returning residents to present only vaccination certificates or vaccination cards and government-issued identification cards when entering the province.
