THE UNIVERSITY of San Carlos’ (USC) fund-raising running event dubbed Lahutay Run kicks off today at the Ayala Center Cebu’s The Terraces.
The event aims to raise funds for USC’s Team El-Krud, which is Cebu’s entry to the Malaysia Shell Eco Marathon on July.
The Shell Eco Marathon is a competition for mechanical engineering students and their inventions from the Asian region. Team El Krud will feature its fuel-efficient prototype vehicle in the race.
The running event will feature 3-kilometer, 6k and 12k categories.
Around 1,600 runners are expected to answer the starting gun to be fired off by race director Joel Baring.
The race starts at 5 a.m. Cash prizes will be at stake for the winners in each category. /CORRESPONDENT DALE G. ROSAL
