MANILA, Philippines — Vice presidential candidate Willie Ong has said he has no hard feelings over what he described as “mix and match” bets for his running mate, presidential candidate Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso.
Ong issued a clarification on his Facebook page, following reports that he was “hurt” by moves of some groups pairing Moreno with another vice presidential candidate, Sara Duterte-Carpio, particularly in Mindanao.
“Wala akong galit sa puso ko kasi hindi siya makakatulong eh,” he said in a Facebook live on Monday night. “Sa politika, away-away eh. ‘Pag pinasok mo galit sa puso mo, doon na masisira ‘yung kamada.”
(I have no hatred in my heart because it will not help. In politics, there’s fighting. But when you allow hatred in your heart, that will destroy the arrangement.)

Ong even thanked Moreno for choosing him as his running mate, saying he would finish what he started with him until the end.
“Tuloy-tuloy tayo, [Eyes] on the ball ako eh, kailangan kong manalo. Kasi kailangan kong maibigay ‘yung tulong sa mahihirap, sa gamutan, sa pagkain, ‘di ba?” he said.
(We will just carry on. I have my eyes on the ball, I need to win. Because I need to extend help to the poor, medical care, food, right?)
