MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Monday said that it has already began probing the ambush incident in Negros Occidental where gunmen shot and killed three people and wounded another in broad daylight.

The shooting incident transpired at Barangay Palampas, San Carlos City in Negros Occidental on Feb. 20, Sunday, at 10:45 a.m.

“A thorough investigation is ongoing while the PNP is trying to identify the profile of the victims. We condemn this blatant act of violence that should ultimately be resolved,” said PNP chief Gen. Dionardo Carlos in a statement.

Carlos said that the Regional Police Office had also directed the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office to look for witnesses and CCTV footages.

Initial investigation revealed that four unidentified assailants onboard a vehicle suddenly fired gunshots at the victims who were riding a white sedan.

Two of the victims, identified as Andre Fajardo and Russel Bacao, died on the spot while another victim, Rudy Dela Fuenta, was later declared dead by a physician while undergoing treatment at a hospital.

Among the occupants of the car, only one survived the attack.
